On this 8-day journey we’ll explore some of Croatia’s most spectacular natural landscapes. Hiking through ancient forests and remote mountain ranges, walking among the cascading turquoise lakes of Plitvice Lakes National Park, exploring dramatic limestone canyons in Paklenica National Park, and wandering the waterfall-filled river landscapes of Krka National Park.
Along the way we’ll experience the quieter side of Croatia, spending time in peaceful mountain regions and charming riverside towns before reaching the sparkling Adriatic coast. Our journey concludes in the historic walled city of Dubrovnik, where medieval streets, sea views and a celebratory final evening provide the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure.

For me, nothing beats the feeling of being out in nature, pushing yourself a little, and soaking in those views that make all the effort worth it. Our Croatian adventure begins with arrival into Zagreb, where we’ll meet our guide before travelling northwest into the peaceful highlands of the Gorski Kotar region.
Often referred to as Croatia’s “green lungs”, this mountainous area is a landscape of dense beech and fir forests, fresh mountain air and quiet villages far removed from the busy tourist coast.
After settling into our accommodation, we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner together and prepare for the days of adventure ahead.

Today we’ll explore the beautiful wilderness of Risnjak National Park, one of Croatia’s most pristine and untouched landscapes.
Named after the elusive lynx that still inhabits the region, the park is home to ancient forests, alpine meadows and sweeping mountain viewpoints. Well-marked hiking trails wind through this peaceful landscape, offering the chance to immerse ourselves in nature and enjoy spectacular views stretching towards the Adriatic on clear days.
After a rewarding day on the trails, we’ll return to our accommodation in the Gorski Kotar region.

Today we travel south to explore the wild beauty of Northern Velebit National Park, part of the spectacular Velebit mountain range.
This remote and rugged landscape is known for its dramatic karst formations, high mountain meadows and extraordinary biodiversity. We’ll hike along sections of the famous Premužić Trail, a remarkable stone path that traverses the mountains and offers breathtaking views across the islands scattered along the Adriatic coastline.
After our hike, we’ll continue to the area surrounding Plitvice Lakes National Park for the evening.

Today we’ll discover one of Europe’s most spectacular natural wonders, Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its cascading waterfalls and vivid turquoise lakes.
Sixteen interconnected lakes flow through forested valleys, linked by a series of waterfalls and wooden boardwalks that allow us to explore the landscape up close. Walking trails wind through this magical setting, offering ever-changing views of the lakes as their colours shift from emerald green to deep blue depending on the light.
After a full day exploring the park, we’ll return to our accommodation nearby.

Today’s adventure takes us into the dramatic limestone landscapes of Paklenica National Park, one of the country’s most spectacular hiking destinations.
Deep canyons carved into the Velebit mountains create a striking setting of towering cliffs, forested valleys and winding riverbeds. Trails lead through the famous Velika Paklenica gorge, where the scent of pine forests and the sound of rushing streams accompany us along the path.
After our hike, we’ll continue to the charming riverside town of Skradin, the gateway to the Krka River.

Today we’ll explore the beautiful landscapes of Krka National Park, famous for its impressive waterfalls and lush river canyon.
Wooden pathways and walking trails wind alongside the Krka River, passing historic watermills, tranquil pools and the spectacular Skradinski Buk waterfalls — one of Croatia’s most iconic natural sights.
Later in the day we’ll travel to the historic coastal city of Split, where Roman ruins meet lively waterfront promenades. In the evening we’ll have time to explore the city or relax along the harbour.

After breakfast we’ll travel south along Croatia’s stunning Dalmatian coastline towards Dubrovnik.
En route we’ll stop in the historic town of Ston, famous for its impressive medieval defensive walls, which stretch more than five kilometres across the hillsides above the town. The region is also known for its traditional salt pans and renowned oysters.
Continuing along the coast, we’ll arrive in Dubrovnik in the afternoon. This beautifully preserved city, often called the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, is famous for its marble streets, terracotta rooftops and dramatic sea views.
In the evening we’ll gather for a special farewell dinner together before enjoying a final stroll through the Old Town.

After a week exploring Croatia’s forests, mountains, waterfalls and coastline, our adventure comes to an end today.
We’ll enjoy a final morning in Dubrovnik before transferring to the airport for our onward journeys home.

Our local team will meet you after customs and we'll transfer as a group to the Gorski Kotar region, around 3 hours' drive from Zagreb.
If you're unable to arrive before 12 noon on the start date, we recommend arriving a day early. We can arrange an additional night in Zagreb for:
