Meet your Guide

Hanna Másdóttir

Hanna grew up in the north of Iceland in Akureyri before moving to Reykjavík in her early twenties. She has worked in the travel industry for over 25 years, starting her career with travel agencies where she gained extensive experience with both incoming and outgoing travel.

Over the past four years Hanna has worked as a guide, beginning as a hiking guide in the Icelandic highlands and leading food tours in Reykjavík. For the last two years she has been working full-time as a certified driver-guide, leading both private tours and small group trips around Iceland.

Hanna guided the SheClicks group in February 2026, so she already knows the style and pace of the trip and understands exactly what the group is looking for from a photography itinerary.

Friendly, energetic and outgoing, Hanna loves meeting new people and sharing the landscapes, culture and hidden corners of her beautiful country with visitors.

As day turns to dusk, we’ll head to the picturesque Grótta Lighthouse for a coastal sunset shoot. If conditions are right, we’ll venture just outside the city to capture the elusive Northern Lights—a magical way to begin your Icelandic adventure.

From here, we journey to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls, where dramatic cascades tumble into a rugged canyon.

We finish the day in the geothermal area of Geysir, where erupting hot springs provide an otherworldly setting for twilight photos. If the sky is clear, we may return after dark to capture this steaming terrain beneath a curtain of stars and auroras.

South Coast Wonders

21st February 2027

Those keen for an early start can revisit Geysir at sunrise before we begin our scenic drive along Iceland’s dramatic South Coast. Our first stop is the mighty Skógafoss, a powerful waterfall often framed by rainbows in the mist.

We then visit Sólheimajökull glacier, where striking ice formations, deep crevasses and ash-streaked textures create fascinating photographic opportunities.

Continuing along the coast, we stop at the dramatic cliffs of Dyrhólaey for sweeping views over the black sand beaches and Atlantic waves below. As the day winds down, we arrive at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, famous for its basalt columns and towering sea stacks—perfectly timed for golden hour.

After dinner, we’ll keep an eye on the skies and, if conditions allow, head out in search of the Northern Lights over the seaside village of Vík.

Lava Fields & Glacier Peaks

22nd February 2027

Leaving Vík behind, we journey eastward through the ethereal Eldhraun Lava Fields, a vast expanse of moss-covered lava that creates beautiful patterns and textures for photography.

If conditions allow, we’ll stop at the dramatic Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, carved by glacial waters over thousands of years, before visiting the basalt column floor at Kirkjubæjarklaustur. We’ll also pause at the picturesque Fossálar waterfalls, a lesser-known series of cascades surrounded by rugged volcanic landscapes.

Continuing east, we reach the striking Svínafellsjökull glacier, an outlet of Europe’s largest ice cap, where jagged ice formations and sweeping glacier views provide a dramatic setting for photography.

Tonight, we settle in for two nights surrounded by towering glaciers and stark natural beauty. If the skies are clear, we’ll head out once more in search of the Northern Lights.

We rise early for a sunrise session at the breathtaking Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where icebergs drift slowly across a mirror-like lake. Just across the road, Diamond Beach sparkles with chunks of crystal-clear ice washed ashore, perfect for striking close-ups and long exposures.

We’ll spend time exploring and photographing both locations, allowing plenty of opportunity to capture the ever-changing light and ice formations.

For those looking for an extra adventure, there is the option to join a private Ice Cave tour, venturing into the glowing blue interior of a glacier with camera in hand.

As darkness falls, we’ll once again keep watch for the Northern Lights, hoping for another magical display in this extraordinary landscape.
