Over eight days we’ll enjoy an inspiring photography experience exploring some of Madeira’s most beautiful and varied landscapes. From dramatic coastal cliffs and powerful waterfalls to misty forests and mountain viewpoints above the clouds, each day brings new locations and opportunities to photograph the island’s unique scenery.
Based in Funchal throughout the trip, we’ll head out to carefully selected spots around the island, often timing our shoots for sunrise and sunset when the light is at its most magical. With Emily and Angela on hand throughout the week, you’ll receive guidance, encouragement and practical advice to help you make the most of every location and continue developing your photography.
Alongside the photography, the experience is about connection, creativity and shared moments, spending time with a group of like-minded women who all share a passion for photography in a truly inspiring setting.

Join photographers Emily Endean and Angela Nicholson, founder of the SheClicks community, for an inspiring 8-day women’s photography workshop on the beautiful island of Madeira.
Designed to help you develop your photography while exploring one of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes, this workshop combines expert guidance with unforgettable shooting locations. From dramatic volcanic coastlines and ancient laurel forests to mountain viewpoints above the clouds, Madeira offers an incredible variety of photographic opportunities.
Based in Funchal for the duration of the trip, we’ll head out each day to carefully chosen locations across the island, often timing our shoots for sunrise and sunset when the light is at its most beautiful. Throughout the week, Emily and Angela will share tips, guidance and creative ideas to help you build confidence with your camera and capture the island’s unique scenery.
This is also a wonderfully supportive and social experience; a chance to spend a week with a group of women who share a love of photography, learning and exploring together.
All levels are welcome. Just bring your camera, curiosity and sense of adventure.

Sunday 18th April 2027
On arrival you’ll be met by a member of the team and taken to our hotel in the heart of Funchal.
After some time to refresh, we gather for an early welcome dinner and connect as a group before the photographic journey truly beings.
We’ll then head out for a gentle walk through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, capturing the evening light as it glows off the colourful buildings and Atlantic coastline.

Monday 19th April 2027
Before the sun is up, we make our way to the dramatic sea stacks of Ribeira da Janela for a breathtaking coastal sunrise shoot. The rising light illuminates the ocean mist and jagged rock formations – a dream for long exposures.
From here, we drive inland to the Fanal Forest, where morning fog drifts through ancient laurel trees. We spend the rest of the morning capturing this ethereal scene at our own pace, with time to explore compositions and wait for light.
The afternoon is free for rest, editing or a quiet wander back in Funchal.

Tuesday 20th April 2027
Today we stay local and immerse ourselves in the vibrant textures and life of Funchal. We visit the famous Farmers Market, photograph the local produce and faces, and wander the painted doors of Rua de Santa Maria. The energy of the old town is perfect for street photography. We'll also have the option to visit the Botanical Gardens or Monte Palace Tropical Garden for even more colour and detail.
Late afternoon, we regroup at the hotel and head down to the harbour to capture the golden light reflecting on the sea and city facades. As the light shifts into blue hour, we make the most of the reflections and contrast of the city lights against the deepening sky – an ideal time for long exposures and creative coastal compositions.

Wednesday 21st April 2027
We start early and head straight to the eastern tip of the island for a magical sunrise session at Ponta de São Lourenço. The dramatic cliffs and wild Atlantic backdrop make for an unforgettable morning shoot. After sunrise, we continue to the coastal village of Porto da Cruz for a relaxed breakfast by the ocean.
From there, we venture inland on a scenic Jeep route through the valleys of Faial, stopping at Miradouro do Guindaste, where sweeping views of the rugged coastline stretch out before us. We continue along lesser-known backroads, discovering hidden waterfalls, terraced landscapes, and remote viewpoints only accessible by 4x4 – perfect for unique photo opportunities.
By late morning, we reach Santana, where we enjoy a creative shoot among the island’s iconic thatched houses, followed by a leisurely lunch with a view at Quinta do Furão. We return to Funchal via a scenic interior route, allowing plenty of time for spontaneous photo stops along the way.

Thursday 22nd April 2027
In the early hours, we head high into the mountains for sunrise at Pico do Areeiro, where we may find ourselves above a sea of clouds, surrounded by rugged peaks. It’s one of the most iconic scenes in Madeira, and we’ll take our time to soak it in.
Afterward, the day is ours – to rest, review images, or join an optional photo editing and creative session with Angela & Emily. This balance between adventure and downtime allows us to recharge for the final stretch of the trip.

Friday 23rd April 2027
We enjoy a leisurely morning, with free time to rest, edit photos, or explore Funchal at our own pace. In the afternoon, we depart for Ribeiro Frio, where we’ll take the panoramic Levada dos Balcões trail – a short, accessible walk through lush forest that opens out to breathtaking views over the valleys and mountains. It’s a peaceful spot, perfect for wide-angle landscapes, forest textures, and quiet reflection.
After our walk, we continue to the charming seaside town of Ponta do Sol on the island’s southwest coast. We have some free time here to enjoy a coffee, capture spontaneous portraits or seafront details, and get settled for golden hour. As the light fades, we gather to enjoy the relaxed, atmospheric sunset over the Atlantic – a perfect moment to share snacks, images, and memories from the week. After sunset, we return to Funchal.

Saturday 24th April 2027
We enjoy a relaxed, free morning and early afternoon, giving us time to sleep in, explore Funchal at our own pace, catch up on editing, or simply unwind and soak up the Madeiran atmosphere. It’s a chance to rest and reflect before our final shoot.
In the evening, we make one final pilgrimage to Pico do Areeiro, this time for sunset, hoping for that perfect soft light to end the week. It’s the ideal closing chapter to a trip full of magical light, creative energy, and shared passion.
We celebrate with a final dinner and raise a glass to new friends and unforgettable frames.

Sunday 25th April 2027
Our adventure ends today and it's time to say goodbye to Madeira! You'll be transferred back to the airport ready for your departure flights.
